Moundsville, WV, April 28, 2024

  • MicroSearch® is a Human Presence Detection System (HPDS) that senses the vibrations caused by the human heartbeat to alert users to stowaways in vehicles.
  • The Mock Prison Riot is held annually at the West Virginia Penitentiary in Moundsville, WV.
  • In addition to correctional facilities, MicroSearch is utilized to bolster security at ports, border crossings, and high-value facilities.

MicroSearch®, the Human Presence Detection System (HPDS) deployed at hundreds of correctional facilities around the world, will be among the technologies on display at the Mock Prison Riot from April 28 through May 1, 2024. The law enforcement and corrections tactical and technology experience takes place over four days at the decommissioned West Virginia Penitentiary in Moundsville, WV.

Experts from ENSCO, Inc. will be on hand in the prison yard to showcase how MicroSearch, trusted by institutions for more than 20 years, detects individuals hiding in vehicles by sensing the vibrations caused by a human heartbeat. With countless vehicles entering and exiting a prison campus, proven security devices are required to prevent prisoners from escaping. Available in wired, wireless, and contactless configurations, MicroSearch enables prison services, prison industries, inmate visitors, and staff vehicles to all be monitored quickly, reliably, and non-invasively.

In addition to technology demonstrations, the Mock Prison Riot includes 40,000 square feet of exhibit space, training scenarios, certification workshops, and networking opportunities for practitioners in corrections, law enforcement, military, and public safety. The annual event is a program of the West Virginia Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation (WVDCR) and the Worldwide Corrections Training Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation.
