ENSCO's IData® software suite has been implemented in the cockpit of NASA’s Orion spacecraft for the historic Artemis II mission. This is the first crewed flight in NASA’s Artemis lunar exploration program. Selected by Lockheed Martin, NASA’s prime contractor for Orion, IData was used to design the cockpit displays that will serve as the primary interface for astronauts as they navigate the Orion vehicle around the Moon and back.
With a launch targeted no later than April 2026, Artemis II will send four astronauts on a journey that tests spacecraft systems with crew aboard, building on the success of the uncrewed Artemis I mission and paving the way for future lunar surface landings.
IData’s flexible architecture and real‑time visualization capabilities enable mission designers to create intuitive, high‑performance cockpit displays that provide critical flight, navigation, and systems information. Its modular design supports rapid iteration and integration with complex avionics systems, making it ideal for space missions that demand reliability, precision, and situational awareness.
“We are honored to support this seminal mission with our IData software,” said Kevin Pruett, Executive Vice President of ENSCO. “Being part of the Orion cockpit interface for Artemis II is a testament to the trust our partners place in our tools and reinforces IData’s value in complex flight environments.”
The software meets rigorous aerospace requirements and supports mission success at the highest levels. Its proven track record across defense and commercial aviation emphasizes why it was selected for this history-making mission.
