ENSCO offers full track geometry measurement services that measure track gage, curvature, crosslevel, surface, alignment, speed, twist and warp at one-foot intervals to regulatory standards. ENSCO collects GPS centerline positions for each foot, supplemented by inertial dead reckoning to compensate for signal loss and provide 100 percent GPS coverage.

Non-contact optical imaging technology provides one-foot rail measurements to determine rail size, rail cant, rail face angle, vertical head wear, gage side wear, field side wear, and total head loss. This inspection is an optional parameter to our track geometry measurement inspection service. It can be performed simultaneously with track geometry to reduce test service costs.

Non-contact optical imaging technology provides measurement of third-rail (power rail) gage and third-rail height. Accurately knowing the position of the third rail can significantly reduce the risk of damaging equipment or compromising safety. ENSCO is currently the only provider of this service in the United States and can perform third rail measurements simultaneously with track geometry and rail profile testing services.

ENSCO’s Joint Bar Inspection System aids railroad inspectors in locating cracked joint bars. This state-of-the-art system automatically inspects joint bars for hairline cracks, reducing walking inspection costs, and preventing derailments. Additionally, the technology delivers a GPS inventory of joint bars with joints-per-mile counts to be used in joint elimination programs. This inspection service is offered through our fleet of hi-rail service trucks.
