Track Inspection Services

ENSCO Track Geometry Measurement Inspection

Track Geometry Measurement

ENSCO offers full track geometry measurement services that measure track gage, curvature, crosslevel, surface, alignment, speed, twist and warp at one-foot intervals to regulatory standards. ENSCO collects GPS centerline positions for each foot, supplemented by inertial dead reckoning to compensate for signal loss and provide 100 percent GPS coverage.

ENSCO Rail Profile Measurement

Rail Profile Measurement

Non-contact optical imaging technology provides one-foot rail measurements to determine rail size, rail cant, rail face angle, vertical head wear, gage side wear, field side wear, and total head loss. This inspection is an optional parameter to our track geometry measurement inspection service. It can be performed simultaneously with track geometry to reduce test service costs.

ENSCO Power Third Rail Geometry Inspection

Third-rail (Power Rail) Geometry Measurement

Non-contact optical imaging technology provides measurement of third-rail (power rail) gage and third-rail height. Accurately knowing the position of the third rail can significantly reduce the risk of damaging equipment or compromising safety. ENSCO is currently the only provider of this service in the United States and can perform third rail measurements simultaneously with track geometry and rail profile testing services.

ENSCO Joint Bar Inspection

Joint Bar Inspection

ENSCO’s Joint Bar Inspection System aids railroad inspectors in locating cracked joint bars. This state-of-the-art system automatically inspects joint bars for hairline cracks, reducing walking inspection costs, and preventing derailments. Additionally, the technology delivers a GPS inventory of joint bars with joints-per-mile counts to be used in joint elimination programs. This inspection service is offered through our fleet of hi-rail service trucks.

ENSCO Rail Clearance Measurement Inspection

Cross Tie, Rail Surface, and Fastener Inspection

ENSCO’s automated cross tie, rail surface, and fastener inspections are some of the industry’s premier emerging technologies. ENSCO’s inspection services provide a comprehensive and customizable assessment of track bed features, including tie ratings, missing fastener detection, and overall track bed component conditions. ENSCO works with each customer individually to create an inspection profile that meets their unique needs. Our inspection provides solutions to reduce time and costs associated with on-foot inspections with greater consistency for short-term safety and long-term maintenance planning.
