ENSCO's MicroSearch® human presence detection system is in wide use in countries in the European Union, including Germany, Scotland, Spain and the United Kingdom. ENSCO is in the process of closing a large new contract in an eastern European country that recently joined the EU.
The MicroSearch system is a fully integrated, unobtrusive search system that determines whether human beings are present, i.e., hiding, in vehicles or cargo containers loaded on vehicles. Using advanced sensor systems and signal processing techniques, the human presence detection system detects minute movements that are transmitted to a vehicle or container by the human heartbeat, alerting the system operator to conduct a search. Prisons, border crossings, seaports and high value facilities, such as embassies, are the prime beneficiaries of the MicroSearch human presence detection system.
The Spanish Civil Guard recently purchased and deployed 10 MicroSearch human detection systems to provide port security in the south of Spain, primarily to detect illegal immigrants from North Africa who stowaway in shipping containers and trucks departing the major ports.
MicroSearch has been added to the federal General Services Administration’s (GSA) Law Enforcement schedule, providing more convenient access for federal customers.
