Managing Director for ENSCO Avionics Canada Sean Smith was among the top 20 under age 40 Canadian aviation and aerospace professionals that were featured in Wings magazine article "Flying Above the Crowd" and Helicopters magazine article "Wings, Helicopters name Top 20 Under 40 winners" (online and print), July issue.
The group of 20, which includes men and women who helped transform their organizations in maintenance, business operations, flight operations, and more, were selected in an online contest in the spring. Candidates were nominated by colleagues for their leadership skills, commitment to clients/colleagues, forward thinking, and influence to affect change.
Sean Smith, age 32, joined ENSCO as a systems analyst in 2006 to support a Canadian customer on-site for six months. Within the first year, his leadership skills and drive for success quickly became apparent as he converted the contract into a long-term multi-year/multi-person project.
By working long hours and securing high value projects, Smith was successful in growing and establishing the Canadian operation. His innovative and creative leadership introduced new internal processes and systems to streamline complex activities and reduce cost for the customer. His high energy, effective communication skills, and innovative ideas continually inspire his staff.
Smith took the lead in establishing ENSCO’s Controlled Goods Registration program in Canada and dedicated himself to understanding the program and ensuring compliancy. This contributed to the establishment of ENSCO Avionics Canada in Dorval, Quebec, in 2012, opening ENSCO’s first international office and subsidiary.
In 2010 and 2011, Smith was awarded and recognized by a customer for his innovation, efforts, dedication, and technical support in resolving high-visible engine production and field issues.
Neil Fifield, Vice President, ENSCO Avionics and ENSCO Avionics Canada, nominated Smith for the contest.
