ENSCO, Inc.’s GeoSystem Solutions Division has a new exciting opportunity in our Melbourne, Florida office for a team-oriented Nuclear Scientist with experience in nuclear processes with emphasis on fuel processing, decontamination, and by-product formation to support an array of programs focused on the chemical fate of materials in the environment.

The incumbent will perform chemistry-related research to develop specialized nuclear process models. He/she will also study the interaction of materials with atmospheric components and environmental surfaces. The incumbent will use proven problem-solving skills, excellent report writing and technical presentation skills, and will work with a team of Scientists to solve unique nuclear chemistry problems.

- BS degree in Nuclear Chemistry/Science, or Nuclear/Chemical Engineering or equivalent; minimum 3 years related experience
- Strong background in nuclear processes with emphasis on fuel processing, decontamination, and by-product formation
- Has demonstrated ability to apply their technical knowledge towards solving real-world problems
- Must be proficient on various platforms (PC, UNIX and/or Linux)
- Excellent writing and verbal skills
- The ability to use Microsoft Office tools (Excel/Word/PowerPoint)
- The ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance is required

- Knowledge of PUREX process, nuclear fuel cycle, and chemical waste associated with the mining and processing of uranium as well as the storage and reprocessing of spent reactor fuel
- A detailed understanding of environmental effects of nuclear waste streams and by-products
- Experience in nuclear industry ? has worked in nuclear re-processing environment
- The ability to work on, or lead, a variety of R&D projects with a multi-disciplinary team of scientists and engineers focused on building tailored solutions to complex chemistry modeling problems
- Scientific software development (FORTRAN), and computer modeling expertise
- A current U.S. DoD security clearance at the TS level or above (TS/SCI preferred)

The GeoSystems Solutions (GS) Division is located in Melbourne, FL and provides a wide range of complementary skills and talents to computational chemistry, earth and environmental sciences, seismic research and exploration, as well as atmospheric modeling. ENSCO’s scientists and engineers are renowned for geophysical research, development and data analysis in support of efforts to monitor international treaty compliance.
