TC-2000: Single Tie Changer

ENSCO introduces the TC-2000 portable tie changer: A new hand tool designed to keep the right of way open while safely and efficiently replacing railroad ties.

Change out single ties quickly and easily with a one- or two-man crew—and without the need for a backhoe. The TC-2000 weighs approximately 45 pounds and clamps to the bottom flange of the rail. Cables are then threaded under the rail and hooked to the back of the tie and a manual pumping action is used to extract the tie. The cables can then be reversed and new tie is easily pumped back under the rail.

The TC-2000 is insulated to prevent shunting of the track. The 22-inch x 12-inch x 8-inch, lightweight unit disassembles into three pieces designed for easy transport by one person. It is constructed of steel, aluminum magnesium, Grade 8 bolts and other non-rusting material. The TC-2000 comes complete with nylon straps and canvas carrying bag.
