Dorval, Québec/Falls Church, Va., Dec. 6, 2012 — ENSCO Avionics Canada Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of ENSCO, Inc., announced successful completion of the security assessment and approval for the Controlled Goods Program by the Canadian government through the Controlled Goods Directorate, Oct. 31.
The Controlled Goods Directorate (CGD) administers the Controlled Goods Program, a domestic industrial security program that helps strengthen Canada’s defense trade controls and prevents the proliferation of tactical and strategic assets, including weapons, satellite global positioning systems, and communications equipment, military equipment and related intellectual property. The CGD regulates and manages the examination, possession and transfer of controlled goods and controlled technology in Canada. Anyone who conducts business in Canada and examines, possesses and/or transfers controlled goods or technologies in Canada must comply with the Defence Production Act and the Controlled Goods Regulations.
“The CGP designation not only allows us to work with the Canadian export controlled program, but also to support ITAR-controlled U.S. programs from the Canadian site,” said Neil Fifield, ENSCO Avionics Canada Vice President. Approved registration for ENSCO Avionics Canada to the Controlled Goods Program marks a key milestone in the company’s operations. Recognized as a premier avionics engineering provider in the commercial market, ENSCO Avionics Canada is now capable of providing its engineering support to export controlled based programs with the Controlled Goods Program registration.
With successful completion of the assessment, the registration for ENSCO Avionics Canada with the CGD has been extended to Dec. 29, 2014.
