Falls Church, Va., January 28, 2008 — ENSCO today announced it welcomes seasoned aviation executive Dr. Jim Stobie to ENSCO. Dr. Stobie joins the company as ENSCO’s Director of Aviation Weather Programs for government customers.
This new addition to ENSCO comes at a pivotal time. “Having spent many years at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Jim brings a wealth of weather experience, especially in en-route programs and the upcoming FAA Next Generation Air Transportation System activities,” said Robert Gillen, ENSCO’s Weather Systems Director of Engineering. “Jim’s knowledge of the FAA requirements combined with the capabilities available from commercial, government research organizations, and academic environments give him an ability to integrate ENSCO’s capabilities into robust solutions for the FAA and other commercial organizations.”
As Director of Aviation Weather Programs, Dr. Stobie will be responsible for growing ENSCO’s business with the FAA and other aviation interests.
Dr. Stobie holds a PhD in atmospheric science from Georgia Tech. He served as an Air Force weather officer and weather/climate modeler for NASA. Prior to joining ENSCO, Dr. Stobie was a senior systems engineer for the FAA, where he was deeply involved with the FAA’s Weather and Radar Processor (WARP) program.
