Falls Church, Va., and Monks Ferry, Wirral, UK, November 9, 2005 — LDRA, the world’s leader in automated source code analysis and testing tools has today announced a worldwide partnership with ENSCO, Inc., the premier supplier of safety/mission-critical avionics software engineering solutions.
ENSCO has been providing software unit (module) testing services for more than 15 years and has more than 500,000 hours of unit test experience spread across a number of safety-critical avionics systems, including flight controls, engine controls, actuation controls, power controls and cockpit instrumentation.
During the past two years LDRA and ENSCO have worked together on a series of major avionics projects for leading multi-national companies including Lockheed Martin, Kaiser Electronics, Rockwell Collins and Hamilton Sundstrand. One of these key project collaborations has seen the two companies teaming together to test the complex embedded software for the cockpit display system on the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) program.
Frank Zurla, ENSCO’s Director of Avionics operations, commented, “ENSCO’s experience with the LDRA tool suite and in particular LDRA’s TBrun unit testing tool has shown a significant improvement in performance and cost associated with software unit testing. ENSCO have experienced double or greater improvement per hour over other tools, resulting in as much as a 30 to 40 percent reduction in overall project costs.
SInce many new customers have approached ENSCO for software unit testing services and since ENSCO has experienced performance improvements that the company has experienced with TBrun, ENSCO plans to apply TBrun to all new efforts.”
“Our experience over the past 30 years in providing automated software development and testing tools, as well as test solutions for a wide variety of market sectors brings strength to our partnership,” said Ian Hennell, LDRA’s Operations Director. “By providing tools to assist with RTCA/DO-178B (through Level A) as well as other standards across multiple avionics platforms and technologies we will continue to develop our reputation as a market leader in providing testing tools for the development and verification of complex avionics systems.”
