ENSCO Wins Major Weather Contract to Provide Global Weather Support to United Airlines

Falls Church, Va., February 13, 2006 — ENSCO Inc., a diversified research, development and information technology company, today announced it signed a five year contract to provide all weather support for United Airlines. ENSCO’s Aerospace Sciences and Engineering (ASE) Division located in Cocoa Beach, Fla., is responsible for the contract win.

“Working with one of the world’s largest commercial airlines is both an honor and an exciting opportunity for ENSCO. This win builds on our other meteorology business such as the NASA Applied Meteorology Unit and our efforts on the National Weather Service Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS) program,” said Kevin Pruett, ASE Division Manager.

ENSCO will be hiring several meteorologists that are currently employed by United. Many will be based in Chicago at United’s headquarters and will work alongside the airline’s flight dispatchers and other operations personnel. In addition to the Chicago contingent, several meteorologists in Cocoa Beach will also focus their expertise on United’s operations.

ENSCO’s systems analysts are developing a Web page for United’s pilots and flight dispatchers. The Web page will contain scores of weather products tailored specifically to United’s operation and route structure. In addition to the Web site, ENSCO engineers will install a satellite receiver and the MetWise weather system at United’s headquarters. MetWise will be used by meteorologists in both locations to support their weather forecasting and service for United.
