Melbourne, Florida, November 9, 2006 — ENSCO, Inc., a diversified research, development and information technology company, announced today their Melbourne Facility was awarded the James S. Cogswell Outstanding Industrial Security Achievement Award for 2006.
The award was presented to Ms. Elaine M. Jennings, ENSCO’s Facility Security Officer, by Ms. Patricia Dodson, Defense Security Service (DSS), Acting Regional Director, Southern Region.
“ENSCO’s commitment to security is its highest priority,” said Ms. Jennings. “We’re honored to receive this prestigious award. It’s a testament to the commitment by the ENSCO employees to the Industrial Security Program.”
The Cogswell Award, established in 1966, is named in honor of the late Air Force Colonel James S. Cogswell, who was the first chief of the unified Office of Industrial Security. The Cogswell Award is the most prestigious honor DSS may bestow on industry and is given for outstanding achievement.
DSS presents the James S. Cogswell Award to only a select group of defense contractors. This year, 29 companies were selected to receive the award from among a group of more than 11,000 contractor facilities participating in the Industrial Security Program. ENSCO’s Melbourne Facility was one of two selected in the entire state of Florida.
The criteria for this award focus on principles of industrial security excellence, which include establishing and maintaining a security program that goes well beyond the basic National Industrial Security Program requirements; and providing leadership to other facilities in setting high standards for security.
