ENSCO's Susan Cook Receives 2006 Technology All-Star Award

The National Women of Color Technology All-Stars are accomplished women of color at an advanced stage of their careers who have demonstrated exceptional achievement in their workplaces and are women who serve as stereotype-breaking role models in technology and inspire other young women to succeed. ATE Deputy Division Manager Susan Cook (Springfield) is such a woman. She is one of three women who have blazed a trail up and through the decision-making processes of the male dominated rail industry. Susan was honored with a 2006 Technology All-Star Award at the eleventh annual National Women of Color in Technology Awards Conference in Atlanta, Ga., Oct. 19­-21, 2006.

Susan has worked with ENSCO¹s rail group for more than 30 years. For the last 15 years, she has had the responsibility of managing the day-to-day operations of the Federal Railroad Administration¹s (FRA) Automated Track Inspection Program (ATIP). From the physical operation of rail geometry vehicles to the analyses and resolution of technical matters regarding automated track inspection technology in general, Susan¹s depth of knowledge and accomplishments have gained her the respect and admiration of both the FRA and rail officials nationwide. It is because of these accomplishments that Susan was nominated for a national technology award.

The award is one of several initiatives of the Career Communications Group Inc. (CCG). A minority-owned media services company, CCG was founded in 1986 with the unique mission of promoting significant minority achievement in engineering, science and technology. The award programs serve as a tool for hundreds of government and Fortune 500 employers to honor outstanding achievement by women and minorities who demonstrate excellence in science, engineering or technology and display outstanding corporate leadership.
