ENSCO Continues to Expand Transit Rail Services

Springfield, Va., September 4, 2007 — ENSCO announced today it won a new multi-year transportation contract to provide track inspection services to Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA). This announcement comes one week after announcing a new contract to provide track inspection services to the Washington Metro Area Transit Authority. These new contracts represent a strategic effort to expand ENSCO’s transit rail services.

Track Inspection Services for MARTA

MARTA awarded ENSCO a multi-year contract to provide automated track geometry and measurement test services for the Authority’s double track mainline rail system, which includes approximately 104 miles of track. An ENSCO customer since 1997, this contract represents an ongoing track safety partnership with MARTA. The services provided by ENSCO ensure track geometry meets with MARTA’s track safety standards and provides valuable inputs for the overall track maintenance planning process.

ENSCO has been providing rail technologies to government and commercial rail customers for more than three decades. “Providing track inspection services to MARTA, one of the nation’s largest transit systems, is a great opportunity for ENSCO. ENSCO feels honored to provide rail safety services to this transit authority,” said ENSCO Vice President Kevin Kesler. “Their commitment to track safety is our commitment to track safety.

The ENSCO Track Geometry Measurement System (TGMS) has been used on railways throughout the world, including the systems ENSCO currently provides and operates for the United States Federal Railroad Administration on their vehicles for monitoring compliance with Federal Track Safety Standards. ENSCO offers track inspection services to transit and freight properties throughout North America. The system makes use of non-contact measurement techniques to evaluate all track geometry parameters as well as rail profile measurements. The system can collect, store and evaluate all required data on any required test vehicle operating at speeds up to the maximum allowable track/vehicle speed. Evaluation is made by comparing measured geometry conditions with applicable standards for non-compliance as provided by the customer.
