Springfield, Va., September 19, 2007 — ENSCO announced today it won two additional contracts further expanding its transit rail services. These new contracts are to provide rail inspection services to Transit America and Brazil’s SuperVia Railway. This news follows the company’s announcement last month of contract wins with Washington Metro Area Transit Authority and Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority.
TransitAmerica Services, Inc. is the rail operator and maintenance provider for North County Transit District (NCTD) Coaster and Sprinter Commuter Service of San Diego, Calif. Under this contract, ENSCO will conduct a track inspection survey on 120 of miles of track owned by NCTD. TransitAmerica Services, Inc. is the railroad subsidiary of Herzog Transit Services, Inc., a multi-million dollar corporation specializing in railroad and rail transit construction and operation, highway and airport construction, aggregate material production, contract operation of sanitary landfills and resource recovery projects.
Rio de Janeiro’s private suburban rail operator, SuperVia awarded ENSCO an initial contract to provide a track inspection survey on 400 kilometers of passenger rail lines. ENSCO’s first project in South America, this contract achieves ENSCO business goals to expand internationally and will offer ENSCO employees the chance to work on site in Rio. SuperVia hired ENSCO based on their solid reputation in the rail industry and research experience. This project has the potential to lead to an increase in work for SuperVia and other Brazilian railroads who are currently reviewing ENSCO estimates for service.
