ENSCO Rail Group to Build and Deliver Instrumented Wheel Sets to Hyundai Rotem

Springfield, Va., January 8, 2009 — ENSCO, Inc. has been awarded a contract by the Hyundai Rotem Company to manufacture and deliver two pairs of instrumented wheel sets. These instrumented wheel sets, to be installed on passenger rail cars being introduced in the U.S., represent a state-of-the-art solution for taking measurements from wheel-rail interactions and assessing the performance of rail vehicles at high speeds.

ENSCO will be providing custom-made instrumented wheel sets for new cars that Hyundai Rotem will be delivering to the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) and Southern California Regional-Rail Authority (SCRRA). ENSCO will perform the design, manufacturing and operation of the instrumented wheel sets, as well as data analysis to evaluate the performance of these high speed cars. ENSCO is also providing track geometry measurement and analysis services to Hyundai Rotem under a separate contract.
